Expert advice

Before you buy

The questions our stores get asked most about appliances.

Stick blender or jug blender?

A stick blender lives in a drawer and works straight in the pot — soups, sauces, mayonnaise. A jug blender is for volume and ice: smoothies, frozen fruit and nut butters.

Which Magimix size?

Le Micro and Le Mini Plus suit one or two people and daily chopping. The 3200XL upwards is for households that bake, knead dough and prep in batches.

Do I need a separate grinder?

If you buy beans, yes. A burr grinder changes more in the cup than the machine does. Hand grinders are quiet and cheap; electric burrs are faster for espresso.

Are air fryer liners worth it?

Silicone baskets and mats save the basket coating and the scrubbing. Disposable liners suit anything sticky or sugary. Pyrex dishes let you bake and reheat in the drawer.

Kitchen appliances at Cookin

Our appliance range is built around the machines that actually get used. Bamix hand blenders from Switzerland, Bugatti kettles, toasters and blenders from Italy, Magimix food processors from France, and Le Morgan, Krups, Severin and Zwilling across the everyday counter. Nothing here is filler — each range is stocked because it holds up in South African kitchens and because we can service and advise on it.

Coffee runs deep: Timemore, 1Zpresso, Baratza and Krups grinders, Blume and Bugatti machines, Severin filter brewers and induction milk frothers, and pour-over kettles that read to the degree. Alongside that you will find air fryer liners, silicone baskets and Pyrex dishes, plus speciality appliances for gelato, yoghurt, sous-vide and eggs.
